Ampelokipoi B.C.
Ampelokipoi B.C. or Ampelokipi B.C. ((ギリシア語:Α.Ο. Αμπελοκήπων)) is a Greek Basketball club based in Athenian neighbourhood Ampelokipoi. It plays in third local division (Γ ΕΣΚΑ) but in the past has played in A1 Ethniki for two seasons. The club's colours are the green and white and its emblem is three circles like Olympic circles.
==History==
Ampelokipoi was founded in 1929, originally as Hephaestus Athens. The first post-war years renamed to Athletic Union of Ampelokipoi and the year 1954 the club merged with Niki Ampelokipoi and renamed to Ampelokipoi Athletic Club. The club had departments in all popular sports in Greece football, basketball and volleyball. But the club was in the shadow of the nearby Panathinaikos and doesn't have successes. Only during 1990s the basketball team having as coach Giorgos Kalafatakis promoted five divisions in five seasons and reached in A1 Ethniki. Ampelokipoi played in A1 Ethniki two seasons (1994-95 and 1995-96) having notable players such as Tzanis Stavrakopoulos, Giorgos Floros, Lawrence Funderburke and Ashraf Amaya. After losing the most notable players the team played in A2 Ethniki for two next seasons. Those years the most notable player of Ampelokipoi was Theo Papaloukas. The football team had not successes like basketball.
